Why I Won’t Be Seeing the “Da Vinci Code” Movie

The world seems abuzz about the newly released Da Vinci Code movie, based on the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. The critics don’t particularly care for it. Box office results in it’s opening weekend were strong, particularly worldwide. Reputable Christian authorities have read the book. Clearly Da Vinci Code the book and now the movie is, biblically speaking, blasphemy. According to Da Vinci Code:
- Jesus did not actually die on the cross. There was therefore no resurrection, since Jesus didn’t really die, after all.
- Jesus had a secret love affair with Mary Magdalene, married her and even had children by her. Mary’s womb is the storied Holy Grail. Jesus’ natural descendents now live in France.
- Jesus was actually the founder of an occult religion that worshipped the Sacred Feminine.
Need I say more?
Now the church is atwitter about, What do we do with The Da Vinci Code? Some urge boycott and protest, others say engage the culture head on, go see it. The question for me ultimately comes down to this one, simple question:
